Super-IAPD
(Download)
IAPD (INTERACTIVE ANALYSIS OF PALAEOMAGNETIC DATA) was originally written at the University of Bergen (1979-1986) by Trond H. Torsvik. Super IAPD was written in 1996-2000 (Torsvik-Briden-Smethurst), it is based on IAPD, but also contains LINEFIND routines for principal component analysis. Super IAPD performs all of the basic processing and plotting tasks usually associated with the storage and presentation of palaeomagnetic data. It is menu-driven and easy to use. Super IAPD is at use worldwide and is written for PC clones.
GMAP (Link
to OLD version with instructions)
Palaeogeographic reconstructions have been an integral part of global tectonic research since the advent of the plate tectonic paradigm, and the display of reconstructions in sequential 'time slices' is a comprehensive method to view biogeographic, geologic and palaeogeographic information. It is also extremely useful to understand local and regional geologic relationships as well as the fundamental driving forces of the Earth's core and mantle. GMAP run under Windows 95/98/NT/2000 but an open source multi-platform version will soon replace GMAP (written by Torsvik & Smethurst)
