Out of Africa Special PublicationAssociated with the "Out of Africa" conference, held in November 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa, we solicit contributions for a Special Publication covering the broad topic of African Geology and Geophysics, in honour of Kevin Burke and Lewis Ashwal. The African continent has inspired Earth Scientists who study the Earth's evolution from the early Archean formation of continents to the modern geomorphology, and from the core-mantle boundary to the Earth's surface. We invite original papers and reviews that cover the evolution of Africa in space and time, and its relation and communication with the underlying upper and lower mantle. We envisage publication in the Special Publications of the Geological Society of London series. Papers in this series are listed in citation counters such as Scopus and the ISI Conference Proceedings Citation Index, and their citation data can now be accessed through Web of Science and are included in an author's H Index. There were nearly a million accesses of the online abstracts of SP papers last year, and over 300,000 downloads of full papers. Deadlines
