Relation of mantle flow and geoid (spatial and spectral characteristics) on Earth, Mars and Venus
Previous research with Richard Holme, has shown that the Earth's long-wavelength gravity spectrum (shown to the right, normalized and downward-continued to depth 670 km; black line) can be largely explained by viscous mantle flow in combination with a very simple model of random mantle density anomalies (green line; standard deviation shaded).
Current research with Trond Torsvik and Stephanie Werner extends this study to Mars and Venus.
